Viking Battles – Witness a Clash of Warriors

Throughout the day, witness the clash of warriors as they unleash their battle-hardened skills in thrilling live combat displays. While the fighting will be intense and action-packed, rest assured—this is a bloodless reenactment, bringing the drama of historic warfare to life in a safe and family-friendly way.

Battles will be held daily on the Castle Green, each lasting approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

After the skirmishes, young squires can join in the fun with Kids’ Shield Drills, where they’ll learn the basics of defense—no experience needed, just enthusiasm!

Viking Crafts – Authentic Viking Crafters

In addition to the fierce Viking Battles, these pagan warriors will be demonstrating exactly how they lived during the Viking age. Step back in time and take a trip through the Viking Village where the historically accurate tents act as workshops for crafters.

Witness the Vikings demonstrating their many skills and crafts which include pottery, leather working, armory, trading, hunting and fishing skills, fiber crafts and much more.

Traditional Viking Cooking Site – Ancestral Cooking Practices

It may come as a surprise, but the Vikings were not only fierce warriors—they were passionate cooks, too. Visitors are invited to discover the culinary side of Viking life through live cooking demonstrations using only authentic ingredients available during the Viking Age.

Watch as meals are prepared over open fires, just as they would have been over a thousand years ago. Experience the aromas, hear the crackle of the flames, and learn what fueled these legendary Norsemen in their daily lives. It’s history you can see, smell, and almost taste!

Traditional Viking Games – Viking Fun for Young Warriors

The adventure isn’t just for grown-ups! Throughout the weekend, there’ll be plenty of Viking-themed games and activities to keep young raiders entertained and immersed in the world of the Norse.

From Kubb—an ancient Viking game affectionately known as “throwing logs”—to Hnefatafl, a strategic board game often called the Viking version of chess, there’s something for every little adventurer. And for those eager to train like true warriors, Kids’ Shield Drills offer a chance to learn basic battle moves in a fun, safe environment.

Moneyer and Nalbinding – The Viking Moneyer

Onsite visitors are invited to pay a visit to the Viking Moneyer, where each child will receive a free replica coin.

Learn of the origins of coins, how they were introduced to Ireland by the Vikings and see how money was made by hand.

As a trusted artisan, the moneyer played a crucial role in maintaining the economic stability of their community. These skilled craftsmen were responsible for minting coins, often adorned with intricate designs.
